Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) – Fishing Info

Find answers to your most common questions about Pensacola fishing charter rates, seasonal target species, and what to bring on the water so you can book your next private trip with total peace of mind.

What is the cost of a full-day fishing charter in Pensacola with Bandit Fishing?

Our private full-day fishing charter rates are flat-rate prices based on the specific duration and style of trip you select, covering all necessary boat expenses for up to a designated number of anglers. Because we run a private charter vessel, you pay one comprehensive price for the boat rather than a per-person fee, ensuring your family or small group receives undivided attention from the captain. For current, up-to-the-minute seasonal rates and direct digital booking, please check our live availability calendar above.

What’s included in a Pensacola fishing charter with Bandit Fishing?

When you book a trip with our local charter service, your fee includes a blanket Florida commercial fishing license for everyone on board, premium rods and reels, fresh or live bait tailored to our target species, ice, and all required safety equipment. There are absolutely no hidden fuel surcharges or unexpected gear fees tacked onto your trip at the dock. We handle all the dirty work and logistics from the moment you step on board until we return to the boat ramp.

Do I need to bring my own fishing gear on a Bandit Fishing trip?

You do not need to bring any of your own fishing gear, rods, or tackle on your trip. We fully stock our 24-foot Morgan center console with top-tier, well-maintained spinning reels and conventional setups matched exactly to the day's target species, whether we are casting light tackle on the inshore flats or dropping heavy rigs down to nearshore structures. However, if you have a favorite personal lucky rod you prefer to use for local species, you are more than welcome to bring it along.

Is cleaning and filleting your catch included in our Pensacola Beach fishing trip?

Yes, complimentary fish cleaning, filleting, and bagging are completely included at the end of every productive outing. Once we return to the Navy Point Boat Ramp, Captain Alex will professionally clean your legal keeper fish and pack the fresh fillets into ziplock bags so they are ready for the kitchen or your travel cooler. We always highly recommend leaving a cooler in your vehicle at the boat ramp so you can safely transport your fresh catch back home or to a local restaurant.

What is the best time of year to fish in Pensacola Beach?

While our coastal waters offer reliable target species every month of the year, the summer stretch from June through August is widely considered the peak season for offshore variety, reef fishing, and federal harvest windows. If your goal is to experience high-action fishing in calmer, shallow estuaries, the fall months of October and November deliver a phenomenal shallow-water bite as cooler temperatures push heavy fish into local bays.

What should our group bring along on a Pensacola fishing guide trip?

You only need to bring your preferred food and drinks for the day, polarized sunglasses to protect your eyes, non-spray sunscreen, and a camera or smartphone to capture your catches. We provide a spacious marine icebox on board to keep your lunch and refreshments cold during the trip. We ask that you wear non-marking, rubber-soled shoes for safety on the deck and avoid bringing any glass bottles on board the vessel.

Are Bandit Fishing trips family-friendly for young children?

Absolutely. We specialize in catering to families and guiding anglers of all skill levels, from young children to seasoned pros. For groups with smaller children or those prone to motion sickness, we highly recommend our 4-hour half-day inshore trips through Pensacola Bay and the Santa Rosa Sound, which feature short transit times, protected calm waters, and high-participation fishing to keep kids completely engaged. We provide all necessary Coast Guard-approved youth safety vests on board.

What is your cancellation and weather policy for private charter bookings?

If your trip is cancelled within our approved standard notice window, you will receive a full return of your security deposit. In the event that high winds, lightning, or heavy seas make conditions unsafe for fishing, Captain Alex will make the safety call at the dock to either reschedule your charter to a rain date or issue a 100% refund of your booking fee. Your physical safety and comfort on the water are always our highest operational priorities.

What fish species will we target on a half-day vs. a full-day trip?

Our half-day inshore trips are concentrated in the local bays and sounds where we target hard-fighting species like Redfish, Sheepshead, Black Drum, and Mangrove Snapper using light spinning tackle. Our full-day trips head out into the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico to target nearshore reefs, wrecks, and ledges for deep-water sportfish, including Red Snapper, Greater Amberjack, Grey Triggerfish, and Cobia. Your target species will depend entirely on the duration of your trip and current seasonal regulations.
