The summer fishing calendar is in full swing here in the Florida Panhandle, delivering flat seas and a highly productive bite across our coastal waters. With water temperatures holding steady in the mid-80s, bait fish are thick around the passes and local bridges, drawing hungry predators into our primary target zones. Whether you are planning a relaxed family trip inside the protected bays or heading out into the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico, our latest charters are finding consistent, heavy-hitting action from dawn until early afternoon.

Nearshore Reefs: Red Snapper and Heavy Hitters
Our full-day offshore wreck trips are currently experiencing phenomenal action on the nearshore reefs and deep structures. The federal Red Snapper season is delivering exactly as expected, with massive, aggressive fish stacking up tightly on local wrecks between 3 and 9 miles out. We are catching our legal limits quickly using live pigfish and pinfish dropped on heavy carolina rigs down to the structure.

Alongside the snapper, we are tangling with hard-fighting Greater Amberjack and hard-tail Grey Triggerfish that are keeping our guests’ rods completely bent. A few transient Cobia are still cruising near the surface around the deeper channel markers, so we always keep a medium spinning outfit rigged with a live eel on the deck for quick sight-casting opportunities.

Inshore Bays: Redfish and Mangrove Snapper on Light Tackle
For guests booking our 4-hour half-day inshore trips, the protected waters of Pensacola Bay and the Santa Rosa Sound are offering incredible variety without the threat of seasickness. The early morning shallow-water bite has been excellent for Redfish (Red Drum) and schools of hungry Black Drum cruising the grass edges and deeper dock pilings.

As the sun gets high and the temperature climbs, we are shifting our focus to the shadow lines of local bridges. Dropping fresh, live shrimp on down-sized jig heads right flush against the concrete pilings has resulted in steady catches of keeper-sized Mangrove Snapper and hard-fighting Sheepshead. This fast-paced style of fishing is proving to be incredibly family-friendly, keeping kids engaged with non-stop action on light spinning tackle.

Plan Your Summer Excursion with Bandit Fishing
Our summer availability slots on the 24ft Morgan center console are filling up rapidly as the peak harvest windows stay open. Captain Alex has the boat stocked with top-tier gear and fresh bait daily, and complimentary fish cleaning and filleting are completely included at the Navy Point Boat Ramp to wrap up your day. Take a look at our live digital availability calendar above to secure your preferred summer date and let our professional crew take care of the rest on the water.

Red Snapper

Pensacola Fishing

On our Pensacola Fishing adventure, we reeled in a remarkable red snapper, setting a new record! What an extraordinary experience of inshore fishing!

We caught some northern red snapper—they were biting like crazy!

We went out about three miles from the shore and started to see some action pretty quickly. We caught about 24 fish in all, but we had to throw back about half of them because they were too small or our lines broke when we tried to reel them in.

The water was calm and clear, and the sun was shining brightly. The air was still a little chilly—it's been a while since we've had this kind of weather in Pensacola! It felt great to be out on the water again.

Pensacola beach, FL Catches & Fish Photos

Captain Alex Pilot, a true native of the Florida Panhandle, found his calling on the local bays and coastal waters at a young age. Growing up near the shoreline, his formative years were spent mastering local angling techniques alongside his father, a foundational experience that created a permanent bond with the regional marine environment. Those early days on the local piers and waterways provided a deep understanding of local fish habits, helping shape him into the patient, knowledgeable guide he is today. With extensive time spent navigating the varied marine habitats of the Gulf of Mexico, Captain Alex has established himself as a reliable, highly regarded fishing guide in the region. His progression from a young pier angler to a professional, licensed captain reflects the focused care and attention he brings to every single trip. He takes great pride in structuring relaxed, educational days on the water that focus on clear communication and consistent safety. Whether guiding families with young children through the calm expanses of the Santa Rosa Sound or helping seasoned anglers target hard-fighting reef species on light tackle, his priority remains centered on your comfort and enjoyment. On a trip with Captain Alex, guests find a welcoming, conversational environment where local fishing patterns are explained clearly, making it easy to build your own skills while enjoying a great day on the water.
The Boat: 24ft Morgan Center Console
Our local fishing trips are conducted aboard "The Bandit," a stable 24-foot Morgan center console hull configured specifically for navigating both shallow coastal bays and nearshore Gulf waters. Pensacola Fishing Charters Frequently Asked Questions 1. How much do Pensacola fishing charters cost? Our charter rates depend entirely on the duration and type of trip you choose (Inshore vs. Nearshore/Offshore). We offer flat-rate pricing for the boat up to a specific passenger count, which covers all your licensing, fuel, bait, and high-end tackle. For current, up-to-the-minute pricing on half-day and full-day trips, check our live availability rates above. 2. Are bait, tackle, and fishing licenses included in the rate?Yes. Your trip fee completely covers your Florida commercial fishing license, top-tier rods and reels, fresh or live bait, ice, and all necessary safety gear. There are absolutely no hidden fuel surcharges or equipment rental fees added to your final price at the dock. 3. What is the passenger capacity limit for your boat rates? Our rates are structured as a private charter for your group. Our boat can comfortably accommodate up to a maximum of 6 anglers. This legal limit ensures plenty of fishing space, individual attention from the captain, and a safe experience on the water. 4. What is your cancellation and weather policy for bookings?Trips cancelled outside of our standard notice window receive a full refund. If the captain determines that high winds, lightning, or unsafe seas make it impossible to fish on your scheduled day, we will first try to reschedule your trip. If your schedule doesn't allow for a rain date, you will receive a 100% refund of your deposit. 5. Should I book a half-day or a full-day fishing trip?If you are booking a family trip with young children or prefer target-rich, calmer waters, our 4-hour half-day inshore trips are ideal. If you are targeting deep-water wreck and reef species like Red Snapper, Amberjack, or Cobia, we highly recommend booking a 6-hour or 8-hour full-day trip to allow for the travel time required to reach the most productive offshore grounds. 6. Is it customary to tip the Captain and crew, and is it included?Gratuity is not included in our base booking rates. A standard tip for a hard-working fishing guide is 15% to 20% of the trip cost. Our crew works cleanly and efficiently before, during, and after the trip—including cleaning and bagging your catch at the end of the day. 7. What should we bring along on our charter? We provide all the specialized fishing gear. You only need to bring whatever you want to eat and drink (alcohol is permitted in moderation, no glass bottles), polarized sunglasses, sunscreen (non-spray preferred), and a cooler to leave in your vehicle to transport your fresh fish fillets home. 8. Are your fishing trip rates family-friendly for young kids?Absolutely. We cater specifically to families. Our inshore trips through Pensacola Bay and the Santa Rosa Sound feature calm waters, short boat rides, and high-action fishing that keeps kids engaged without the risk of seasickness. We provide coast-guard-approved life jackets for all ages.
